  • South of Moorhouse map Big things are happening south of Moorhouse Avenue – with ex-city businesses opening their doors in Sydenham and Addington, and beyond, it looks like this part of the city is going to be a key part of the new cityscape of Christchurch.

Cross Moorhouse Avenue from the CBD and you’ll quickly discover that this part of town is experiencing something of a resurgence and is now home to several businesses formerly located in the central city. Burgers & Beers is one central city favourite that’s made the move south and slick new development, The Colombo, will soon be home to more ex-city migrants. Further west, Addington is maturing into an industrial-chic destination. Long before the earthquake, the Addington Coffee Co-op at 297 Lincoln Road had become an essential weekend brunch spot, but other eateries and bars are also opening in the neighbourhood, making this a place to watch as an after-dark hotspot.
