We Need To Talk About Kevin
The biggest Scottish comedy export since Billy Connolly, Kevin Bridges is bringing his searing social commentary, astute observations and razor-sharp one-liners to CHCH this month. It’s been a meteoric rise for the Glaswegian, who first started really turning heads on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow in 2009, before recording his first DVD a year later in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,000. From there it’s been success after success – he performed nine sold out shows at the Glasgow SECC Arena in 2012, with the DVD of the show still in sales charts five years later, and his tour of the UK last year shifted the small matter of 450,000 tickets – one of the biggest comedy tours ever undertaken in the country. And the man is just 30 years old!
Little wonder that his first New Zealand tour is highly anticipated amongst local comedy fans. He’s been described by Scotland’s comedy kingpin Connolly himself as “brilliant”, by The Guardian as “Positively exhilarating”, and by The Daily Mirror as “A must see act”; it seems he’s very much the Big Yin’s heir apparent. Catch an internationally red hot comedy star at his very hottest!
