The Scoop

NEW IN TOWN So many new treasures to discover, it’s hard to know where to start! Guys, Working Style has opened on Papanui Road. The feel is of a private club – drop in and pay a visit. Caffeine addicts rejoice because Joe’s Garage is bringing its special formula to a new outlet in Upper Riccarton (opening later this month). And, particularly exciting for the Sydenham-based Cityscape crew, The Monday Room is opening this month on Moorhouse Avenue; it’s in just the right spot to become our new fav for Friday night drinks. Of course, the other big news is the reopening of City Mall with a selection of shipping-container boutiques and Ballantynes as the iconic anchor at its heart. The timing couldn’t be better for stocking your summer wardrobe and picking up Christmas gifts.

WORD ON THE STREET Guys, Sergios is finally open in Merivale Mall. Park Avenue Fashions also has a new location – now you can find your party frocks at 363 Lincoln Road. Speaking of party season, Barbara Lee has released a new collection in time for Cup & Show Week (at Quinns Merivale). Bryce Gallery has reopened on the corner of Riccarton Road and Paeroa Street. The former 50 on Park at The George has rebranded as 50 Bistro and caters to a more diverse range of diners. In mid-November Scotty Browns bike store moves into new premises at 206 Wordsworth Street. And Bikram Yoga has reopened in the Carlton Mews at 21 Bealey Avenue.

SAD TO SAY GOODBYE With the demolition of the Hipara Building, we’re facing the fact that there will be no more lazy brunches at C1.
